Gabriel Naddaf
Gabriel Naddaf ((アラビア語:جبرائيل نداف), (ヘブライ語:גבריאל נדאף); born August 18, 1973) is an Israeli priest of the Greek Orthodox Church, a judge in the community's religious courts, and a spokesman for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. He is also known as the spiritual leader and one of the founders〔(An Israeli Christian Discusses Religions of War and Peace in the Holy Land )〕 of the Forum recruiting Arabic-speaking Christians in the Israel Defense Forces.
Naddaf supports the integration of Arabic-speaking Christians in all state institutions, including their army〔(Knesset: Christians Are No Longer 'Arabs' ). ==Biography==
Nadaf was born in 1973 in Yafia, an Arab village, mostly Muslim, but with a large Christian minority, which is now part of the metropolitan area of the city of Nazareth in the Galilee. Since 1995, Naddaf serves as a priest in the Church of the Annunciation in Nazareth, and as a priest of the Greek Orthodox monastery in Nazareth, which belongs to the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, which is the church with the largest affiliation in Israel. He served as a spokesman for the Patriarchate and as a judge in the religious courts of the church.
In 2005, he became known to the general public for the first time, when petitioned an Israeli court along with another priest against the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate. They tried to prevent the overthrow of the then Patriarch Irenaios I, was considered relatively pro-Israel, and the choice of a new patriarch in his place.
